The medication in Latisse (Bimatoprost) has been used in the treatment of glaucoma since it was approved by the FDA in 2001. Many patients treated with this medicine noted a beneficial side-effect - their eyelashes grew longer and thicker! Allergan sought additional approval to market the medication for eyelash extension and received approval for this use on December 26, 2008. A one month supply of Latisse costs between $100-$150. The medication requires a doctors prescription but is not covered by medical insurance. For further information visit the Latisse website
